Chivers No Longer Eligible to Serve on Uintah School Board in District 2; Vacancy Announced

The Uintah School District announced on Wednesday that they have begun the process of filling a vacancy on the Uintah School Board. According to the announcement, Uintah County Clerk-Auditor Mike Wilkins informed the District on Friday, February 28th, that board member Dave Chivers is no longer eligible to serve in District 2. “Neither the school district nor the school board had a role in the process that led to Mr. Wilkins’ determination,” shares the District announcement, “and therefore cannot comment on it.” Written notice of the vacancy was posted at the District Office and on the Utah Public Notice website on Wednesday. Advertisements were also released on the District website, Facebook page, and to local media. All applications and letters of interest of those wanting to apply for the position must be submitted to the District Office by noon on March 20th. Eligible candidates need to have been a resident in District 2 for at least one year, among other qualifications. To confirm eligibility, contact the Uintah County Clerk-Auditor’s Office. On March 25th, the Uintah School Board will have a special work meeting at 4:30pm to interview applicants. This meeting will be open to the public and that same evening at 6pm the school board will hold a special business meeting to select by vote the candidate to fill the District 2 vacancy.
