USU Uintah Basin is doing something special to support, celebrate, and honor the women of the Uintah Basin with their Year of the Woman campaign. Each month will highlight women in categories ranging from Women’s Suffrage to Wellness & Nutrition. The category for January is Arts & Culture and the first woman to be highlighted is Jen Curtis of Vernal. Utah State University Uintah Basin shared a video highlighting Jen on their Facebook page on Monday evening. As the person who nominated Jen, Brooke Sprouse gives a run down in the video of the many ways Jen has contributed to the arts locally from performing in and directing local musical theatre productions to serving as the choir president for the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus. In addition to her talents in the Arts, Brooke describes Jen as someone who does a lot to help others. “She is an incredibly talented woman and very giving,” shares Brooke. “Always willing to help out anybody that needs it. Jen Curtis deserves to be recognized as an impactful woman of the Uintah Basin because she gives so much of herself. She’s incredibly generous and kind and she doesn’t expect a lot in return. She just gives out of the goodness of her heart.” Congratulations Jen Curtis, USU Uintah Basin’s Week 1 Impactful Woman of the Uintah Basin for Arts & Culture.
