To be the first of its kind in rural Utah, the Innovation and Co-Working Center will be located in the old Vernal Police Department building. The Uin-Tech Committee was formed in 2018 with the goal of providing a space for entrepreneurs and start up businesses to have the technology they need to develop and grow. Co-working spaces have been popping up around the more populated areas of the state serving independent professionals, entrepreneurs and small companies all in the same office space. Vernal City partnered with Uintah County Economic Development, the Impact Mitigation District, Uintah County Library, Strata Networks, Vernal Chamber, Uin-Tech Committee, and the Small Business Development Center to apply for a grant through the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and were awarded $223,000 dollars to be used within 18 months for the building renovation and equipment. Renovations are now underway on the 7000 square foot space that will include offices, an open area with desks, equipment and technology, two conference rooms, a community resource room, and a podcast/video production space. The Uin-Tech Committee plans to open the Innovation and Co-Working Center in May.
