As more law enforcement agencies have adopted the practice of carrying naloxone for opioid overdose there have been more stories of lives being saved. The Rangely Police Department is the latest to share a success story. “On December 22nd at approximately 11:33 pm, Rangely Officer Block was dispatched to an address in Rangely in regard to a 29-year-old female who was not conscious and barely breathing. Officer Block arrived on scene at 11:37 pm. When Officer Block arrived on scene, he found the 29-year-old female was not breathing and was turning blue. Officer Block ascertained from witnesses that the 29-year-old female had taken a mixture of methamphetamine and heroin. Officer Block immediately administered two doses of naloxone (Narcan). After the two doses of naloxone (Narcan) the 29-year-old female started breathing and became conscious. The 29-year-old female was transported to Rangely District Hospital where she later made a full recovery.” Rangely Police began carrying Narcan in July.
