The Uintah County Travel and Tourism Office has some great news. 2019 was another successful year for tourism in Uintah County. “Numbers for visitation at Dinosaur National Monument were up in the summer and fall months over the same months in 2018,” shares Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp. “Close to 300,000 people have visited Dinosaur year to date. Most hotels in the area are reporting that they had a great tourist season as well. Red Fleet State Park had a record breaking summer and local trailheads saw higher than average usage. Local rafting guides have reported a successful season with bookings up in 2018 as well. The Field House of Natural History Dinosaur Museum had a successful summer, but averaged about the same visitation as last year. Over all, the consensus is that 2019 was a successful tourism season and we hope to continue to see an increase in tourism and outdoor recreation next summer.” Coltharp says that tourism is a piece of the economic puzzle for Uintah County and the community benefits as visitors contribute money to the local economy.
