In August, UBTech’s Vice President of Development Bob Peterson was named the director of student affairs at Utah State University-Uintah Basin. UBTech started an extensive search for a replacement that included 30 qualified applicants from throughout the United States. The search is over and ended with Mark Dockins, a 25 year community member of the Uintah Basin. Dockins has been named the new UBTech Vice President of Development effective January 6th, 2020. UBTech President Aaron Weight states, “Dockins brings knowledge in education as well as leadership and funding experience as he oversees the development office. He is a knowledgeable professional and will continue to inspire and develop technical education opportunities that support UBTech programs and students.” Dockins has deep roots in education having started his career as an English teacher. In the years since, he has served as a Uintah High School assistant principal, served as the student services director and of course was the superintendent for the Uintah School District. He has earned his Education Doctorate from the University of Wyoming in Educational Leadership, with a masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Nebraska, an Administrative Certification through Utah State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Language Arts and English Language through University of Nebraska. Mark is excited for this opportunity, saying, “It’s an exciting opportunity to apply my knowledge in the higher education community. I look forward to being part of the UBTech leadership team. UBTech changes lives and I’m passionate to support its mission.”
