Three Craig Citizens Arrested on 1st Degree Murder Charges

Three Craig, Colorado citizens have been arrested in connection to the death of a Steamboat Springs man earlier this month. According to a press release from the Routt County Sheriff’s Office, William Ellifritz, Brooke Forquer, and Skyla Piccolo-Laabs were advised on Monday in Routt County Court on 1st Degree Murder charges related to the death of Elliot Stahl. “All three defendants are being held without bond pending a hearing to determine whether sufficient evidence exists to hold them further. The cases are set for October 29, 2019, for further proceedings.” The remains of Elliot Stahl were found by a civilian in rural Routt County, southwest of the Town of Yampa, on October 14th, shares the press release. The Routt County investigation received assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Craig Police Department, Steamboat Springs Police Department, Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, and the 14th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Ellifritz, Forquer, and Piccolo-Laabs were arrested on October 19th with support from neighboring law enforcement agencies. It is anticipated that formal charges will be filed this week. The Routt County Sheriff’s Office does not expect any further arrests in the case.
