The Duchesne-Roosevelt Ranger District of the Ashley National Forest is getting ready to start implementing prescribed burns as the weather and burn conditions allow. Some of the projects include Reservation Ridge East Sagebrush about 20 miles southeast of Duchesne and includes 1,400 acres, as well as Reservation Ridge West Sagebrush close to Big Beaver Springs and will be about 366 acres. Each project is to reduce shrub canopies and increase vegetative ground cover. Some other projects are the Reservation Ridge Piles, about three miles west of Avintaquin Campground and the Reservation Ridge Scenic Backway to clear the slash piles or woody-like deposits which will be close to 100 acres.
