Young Living Essential Oils announced Friday their donation of land in Duchesne County to the organization, The Nature Conservancy, to create a conservation easement. The land totals 11,597 acres, or 18.75 square miles, and is the largest conservation easement donation received in the history of the organization’s Utah chapter. The donated property is located near Tabiona near the Uinta Mountain foothills and, according to Young Living, serves as a migratory corridor nicknamed the “Utah Serengeti” because of the large herds of elk and deer migrating between ranges there. It also includes seven miles of the Duchesne River, two mountain ranges, sage brush habitat for sage grouse, and areas containing ancient Native American petroglyphs. The land meant a lot to Young Living Founder Gary Young and the property is being dedicated as the D. Gary Young Wildlife Sanctuary. “Gary and I both shared a deep love of nature and wild places, which is why Young Living is committed to preserving and protecting vital habitat for wildlife, as well as for current and future generations to enjoy,” shares Young Living President and C.O.O.
