Snowpack in the mountains is being talked about as the risk of flooding has increased but how much snow remains in the High Uintas Wilderness? As of Tuesday, June 18th, Ashley National Forest shares that “Brown Duck Basin has 35 inches of snow, Five Point Lake has 30 inches of snow and Lake Fork Basin at elevation 10,885 has 40 inches of snow. We don’t have an accurate snow total for Granddaddy Basin but as of
March 17th
there were reports of 3 or more feet of snow past Splash Dam.” In the Duchesne/Roosevelt Ranger District Hades Road is closed due to heavy snow. Blind Stream Road is impassable. Rock Creek Trailhead remains closed due to falling rocks. Hells Canyon Road and Pole Creek Road remain impassable.
