The board for the Seven County Infrastructure Coalition met on Thursday and voted to add a new preliminary route to the environmental study taking place for the proposed Uinta Basin Railway. According to a press release from the Coalition, they will be requesting that the Surface Transportation Board consider the new route, which is being called the Whitmore Park route, as the Coalition’s preferred alternative. This new route is a variation of the Indian Canyon route and would reduce the impacts to property owners by shifting the proposed railway closer to Emma Park Road and further away from the homes in Emma Park and the area of the Duchesne Mini Ranches. “We want property owners to know we are listening to their concerns and demonstrating our commitment to find solutions to reduce impacts while also providing a viable route for the Uinta Basin Railway that will help us solve the freight transportation needs in the Uinta Basin,” shares Coalition Executive Director Mike McKee.
