The Uintah County Commission adopted the tax rate for the 2019-2020 budget year during Monday’s Commission meeting. The state recommended a certified tax rate of 0.003083. “Instead of adopting the certified tax rate established by the state, the commissioners chose to retain the current tax rate, which is a lower rate of 0.002885,” shares Uintah County. “This decision means the county is expected to collect about $860,000 dollars less in taxes during next year. The commissioners carefully analyzed the budget and the balances in the county’s accounts before they decided to keep the lower rate. They will continue to monitor the county’s finances and adjust the tax rate – if that becomes necessary – following the process established by state law.”
