Thursday was a great kickoff of the John Wesley Powell River Fest set up around the Uintah County Library with music, food, inflatables, and even the chance to get on the water! People of all ages enjoyed getting on the makeshift pond next to the Scout Office, able to borrow kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes for a ride right in downtown Vernal! “Don’t let the weather scare you away!” shares Uintah County Travel and Tourism Director Lesha Coltharp. “Just come have some fun and celebrate this 150th Anniversary.” The River Fest continues Friday and Saturday and includes fantastic bluegrass bands, an art show, demonstrations, and food vendors. Bring your chairs and shade and set up in front of the library for great entertainment and fun. Coltharp also invites all to visit the canopy next to the stage to enter a special drawing for a 4 day 3 night family river trip on the Green River with Dinosaur River Expeditions, a $3,000 dollar value. All can enter the drawing once per day and the winner will be drawn
on Saturday at noon
. Coltharp also invites all to buy tickets for a special date or family night at the Split Mountain Campground on Saturday. Tickets are $35. More information is available on all the events surrounding River Fest at
