While a fire is never a good thing, there were some lucky circumstances with a house fire in Vernal on Wednesday, namely it was in an abandoned structure. According to Uintah County Fire Warden Jeremy Raymond, Vernal Fire Department was paged to a structure fire on 500 North 500 West in the early evening. Fire crews arrived to find an abandoned home on fire spreading to the surrounding brush. It took crews about an hour to contain the fire and crews remained on the scene until around 10:00pm. No injuries were reported and the cause is still under investigation.
