Uintah School District Reports Increase In Drivers Illegally Passing School Buses

by | Mar 7, 2025 | News | 0 comments

Uintah School District is calling on the community for help. “There’s been an increase in drivers passing our school buses when their flashing stop sign is in use to help students safely get on or off the bus,” shares the announcement. “Last school year it happened a total of 33 times. This school year we documented 34 incidents by the end of February, with three months of classes still to go. This behavior isn’t just against the law in Utah, it’s extremely dangerous for kids who ride the bus. The Uintah School District is actively working with law enforcement to help officers catch drivers who pass our buses when the flashing stop sign is displayed. Our buses are equipped with cameras and video is provided to police as part of the reporting process.” The choice to go around a school bus when its flashing stop sign is in use is a class C misdemeanor that carries heavy fines. Please do your part to keep kids safe and patiently wait until the flashing top sign is down before continuing your drive.
