A Uintah County woman is facing 5 felony charges following an instance in which she allegedly threatened a group of people with a gun. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a report of a disturbance involving a firearm was called in on February 28th at about 7pm, stating that the suspect had since barricaded herself in a camp trailer. Officers responded, surrounded the trailer, and after several commands to exit, 70-year-old Susan Carraway exited the trailer and was detained without incident. During the interview with officers, Carraway reported that she and her husband had an altercation regarding tenants on the property that she wanted evicted. One of the tenants came into the trailer to discuss property matters. She told investigators she was upset they were still on the property but that her husband refused to make them leave. Carraway remained in the trailer while the others left and went inside the house on the property. She told investigators she then obtained a firearm and held it against her leg as she walked from the trailer to the house but backed away and returned to the trailer where she barricaded herself until officers arrived. Carraway’s husband and other witness accounts claimed that she had physically assaulted the husband first while in the camp trailer, then when she followed them to the house she pointed the gun at each person present, including a juvenile. The husband tried to disarm her but failed and she retreated to the camper. The husband was treated at the scene for injuries, including lacerations to his nose and the area of his right eye socket. The officer also noted that the handgun was loaded and a warrant was approved so it was collected for evidence. Carraway was arrested and is charged with 4 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Aggravated Assault, 1 count of Domestic Violence in the Presence of a Child, and Misdemeanor Assault. The judge ordered she be held without bail.
