The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office announced last week plans to conduct prescribed burns on approximately 300 acres at the Pariette Wetlands from the last week of January through March 31st, 2025. “The burns will be conducted on selected days within this timeframe to ensure conditions are optimal for achieving project success and safety,” shares the announcement. “The BLM Fire program will be looking to burn the western portions of Pariette Wetlands. This effort is part of the annual burn schedule, which includes both spring and fall burns. These burns will help maintain the impoundments free of invasive vegetation, keeping 50 percent or more open water for  waterfowl. For safety, parts of the wetlands will be closed to the public while burns are actively taking place.” To ensure that your destination is open before traveling to the Pariette Wetlands, call 435-781-2741 or email hbarela@blm.gov
