Duchesne County On List Of Utah School Districts Compromised In Cyberattack

Duchesne County is unfortunately on a list of Utah school districts affected by a widespread cyberattack on a popular education platform. PowerSchool is a North American education technology software plan and the company announced the major data breach that took place on December 28th, 2024. PowerSchool shared that personal information including names and addresses were stolen and there were also some cases of medical information and Social Security numbers accessed. PowerSchools issued a statement that said, in part, “As soon as we learned of the incident, we immediately engaged our cybersecurity response protocols and mobilized a cross-functional response team, including senior leadership and third-party cybersecurity experts.” In addition to Duchesne County, other Utah school districts on the list were Salt Lake City, Cache, Iron, Washington, and Weber.
