Vernal Man Officially Charged Following Mega Drug Haul Arrest

The Vernal man pulled over on I-15 with over half a million dollars worth of Methamphetamine has officially been charged in the incident. Officers pulled over 42-year-old Ashley Atwood in Utah County on January 8th for traffic violations. A K9 was deployed around the Toyota Tundra Atwood was driving and the subsequent search found over 60 pounds of Methamphetamine worth around $550,000 dollars, 102.7 grams of Heroin, 61.2 grams of Cocaine, $61,595 dollars in cash, and 1 handgun.. Atwood was booked into the Utah County Jail and is now charged with three 1st Degree Felony counts and one 3rd Degree Felony Count of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, 2nd Degree Felony Money Laundering, 3rd Degree Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Restricted Person, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, among other charges. He is being held in the Utah County Jail.
