James Hudson Main, Jr. made his first appearance in 8th District Court this week on charges tied to a string of crimes committed last October. Main Jr. faces a long list of charges in Utah and Colorado after a two day crime spree that included kidnapping, assault, and the alleged aggravated murder of his own father. During his appearance before Judge Samuel Chiara on Monday, Main Jr. was advised of the charges and penalties against him. The court found Main Jr. indigent and appointed Grant Morrison out of Taylorsville as his defense attorney. Main Jr. is being held in Duchesne County Jail and is scheduled to be in 8th District Court again on April 10th. Main Jr. had been held in Colorado where he was apprehended last fall until charges against him were dropped this year so he could be extradited to Utah to face the 1st Degree Felony Aggravated Murder charge. It is expected charges in Colorado will be refiled.
