Representative Christine Watkins was a guest on Castle Country Focus, a KOAL radio interview on Castle Country Radio in Price, focusing on what is to come in the 2025 legislative session. Watkins spoke about two bills that she will be pursuing. First, is a bill to allow DCFS and the police to decide when they need to get a warrant to go into a home and get eyes on kids at risk. Along with that is dropping the child support charge for families who have children taken by DCFS. She says that charge makes it harder for them to do what they need to to get their kids back and DCFS is also supporting the bill. A second bill Watkins discussed has to do with a budget decrease for the state’s public universities to shift some of that funding into technical schools. The 2025 Utah State Legislature will run from the end of January into March and Representative Watkins has promised to keep her constituents informed during that time.
