One young woman’s love for the Basin’s great outdoors is paying off. Oaklee Trogstad is this year’s recipient of the Linda Gurr Stuart Memorial Scholarship. Oaklee’s passion for wildlife began long before she became a wildlife science student at USU-Uintah Basin. She grew up hiking, hunting, fishing, and competing in archery so jumping into college to pursue becoming a wildlife biologist was a natural fit. The Linda Gurr Stuart Memorial Scholarship was created by the namesake’s husband James Elwell Brown Stuart who was a USU graduate that as a fellow outdoorsman, offers the scholarship to those who likewise show a commitment to the outdoors. Trogstad worked for two years on the U.S. Forest Service’s Youth Conservation Corps and this summer steps up into a position on the seasonal range crew. Congratulations Oaklee, recipient of the Linda Gurr Stuart Memorial Scholarship.
