Utah Avalanche Center Reports Increase In Avalanche Danger In Uintas

The Utah Avalanche Center has reported that avalanche danger continues to rise in the Uintas. The Uintas danger rating had been upgraded to Considerable. “Look for CONSIDERABLE avalanche danger on steep, mid and upper-elevation slopes facing northwest through north through southeast,” shares the report. “Human-triggered avalanches are LIKELY and once initiated, may produce a slide breaking 2 to 4 feet deep and hundreds of feet wide. Note… while becoming more the exception than the rule, avalanches can still be triggered remotely, or from a distance.” Any backcountry users are urged to have completed avalanche safety training before heading out and always having proper avalanche safety equipment.
