As part of the executive board of the Utah Sheriffs Association, Uintah County Sheriff Steve Labrum and Duchesne County Sheriff Travis Tucker are among the signatures on a letter of engagement from Governor Cox to Trump’s incoming cabinet members regarding solutions to immigration issues in Utah and the United States. The Governor and Sheriffs Association petitioned Border Czar Tom Homan and Governor Kristi Noem as the Nominee for Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security for several things. First, they ask that the ICE leadership in Salt Lake City be replaced. Second, they ask that obstacles for housing Immigration and Customs detainees in Utah be decreased and that public safety should be the top priority. Third, they request additional funding for jail beds and transportation to quickly deport those that pose a threat to public safety. The entire letter is shared on the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
