Proposed Changes for Buckskin Hills Shooting Range

The Buckskin Hills Shooting Range in Uintah County is known far and wide for its extensive facilities and professionalism. Following some vandalism in 2016, the county is exploring some changes to the facility. According to Uintah County Commissioner Brad Horrocks, sometime in the near future, the county plans to lock down the facility at night. “Buckskin Hills is quite an asset to this community,” shares Horrocks. “We need to implement some things to secure the facility. Some gates will be put up and the facility will be locked down at dark and unlocked at daylight.” The facility was vandalized last November with graffiti sprayed over much of the infrastructure. A group of dedicated volunteers quickly went to work to repair and cover anything the vandals had tagged but no one wants to see that kind of behavior repeated. Horrocks also notes that some people leave garbage around and simply don’t take care of the facility the way they should and the county will do more to protect that wonderful asset.
