A Wasatch Front couple is now behind the bars of the Duchesne County Jail on multiple charges of fraud. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old James M. Duffy was arrested on outstanding warrants during a traffic stop after failing to signal while driving in Duchesne on the morning of April 6th. Duffy’s vehicle matched the description of one suspected to be driven by a man with multiple warrants. During the arrest, syringes and a glass vial with suspected illegal drugs were found on Duffy’s person. K-9 “Kimber” was deployed on the vehicle and a bag was found “under the hood area of the engine compartment that contained financial documentation appearing to be fraudulent, multiple checkbooks and drug paraphernalia. Duffy was booked on charges of criminal arrest warrants, fraudulent activities, fraud – impersonation, fraud – illegal use of credit cards, possession of stolen property, possession of heroin, marijuana, amphetamine, possession of narcotic equipment and paraphernalia. Investigation also led officers to the Studio 6 hotel in Duchesne where Duffy’s girlfriend, 40-year-old Dana Wagenman of Orem, was also arrested. Deputies met with Wagenman and during the interview “several suspicious indicators arose which led deputies to obtain a search warrant for the hotel room. The warrant uncovered suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia and suspected forgery documentation. Wagenman also had a $7,500 cash only warrant out of Provo and another from Cedar City.” Wagenman was booked on the two outstanding warrants, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, and possession of stolen property. The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office offered thanks to all the Deputies involved in the investigation. The Sheriff’s Office specifically thanked Cpl. Jared Harrison who recognized the suspected vehicle and initiated the traffic stop. Utah Highway Patrol Troopers Pugliese and Ashby and AP&P Agent Rick Coil were also recognized for aiding in the arrest of Duffy and Wagenman.
