Congressman and Senator-elect John Curtis visited the Uintah Basin on Friday and among his stops was a visit to the Evans Family Media studios for an interview. Curtis gave his opinion and insight on some hot topics nationally. He shares his perspective on the Senate’s role to ‘advise and consent’ as Trump continues to make nominations. On the topic of the Middle East he shares his perspective on what it means to have Trump coming into office and that the world is already responding to the knowledge that Trump can’t be pushed around. Curtis says that he believes Trump will close the border on day 1 and then thoughtful discussions will be important in determining where to go with deportations from there. Curtis also shares his thoughts on permitting reform and the Supreme Court hearing concerning the Uinta Basin Railway. He says that while the result may not be black and white, he believes there is reason to be optimistic. He speaks to the history of NEPA and that Republicans don’t oppose it. Rather, they oppose the abuse and weaponization of it.
