The energy was electric on Wednesday afternoon as students from Ashley Elementary awaited the arrival of a very important person: Santa Clause. The big man himself was on his way thanks to Angel Flight West, an organization that provides flights for medical appointments for people in need as well as the annual Santa Flights. The students of Ashley Elementary were bused to the Vernal Regional Airport to await the arrival of Santa, Mrs. Claus, several elves, and 25 pilots on 25 planes loaded with school supplies, winter coats, books, toys, and gifts. The children did their part to sing and show their pure excitement as the planes landed and Santa and his entourage arrived. AFW Utah Wing Leader Lou Rossi presented Ashley Elementary Principal Tawna Baumgardner with a commemorative quilt for the school that was made by a wing member, as well as a cash donation for the school. Angel Flight’s Utah Wing has been delivering Santa to Title One schools in rural Utah communities since the year 2000.
