A 21-year-old Roosevelt man is facing a felony charge for breaking hunting laws in October. According to the Probable Cause Statement, on about October 22nd, the man shot and killed a buck deer on Ute Tribal property. The man’s father and another relative then dragged the deer to the property which the man had been given permission to hunt. The man had a Yellowstone hunting permit but was not hunting on the Yellowstone unit. A law enforcement officer found a camouflaged blind nearby the site of the kill as well as a bait pile of corn and oats. A law enforcement officer measured the antlers of the killed buck which were greater than 24 inches or trophy size. He is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Wanton Destruction and Misdemeanor Tagging Violation and Big Game Baiting.
