There is still time to participate in the 100 Year Commemoration of Vernal’s ‘Spirit of the American Doughboy’ celebration. A part of this year’s Veterans Day program in Uintah County was in recognition of the Doughboy statue that has been at home in Uintah County for 100 years. Replicas of the original ‘Spirit of the American Doughboy’ statues were shipped all over the United States in the 1920s in honor of the veterans and casualties of World War I. An exhibit about the ‘Spirit of the American Doughboy’ is on display at the Uintah County Heritage Museum through the end of December. Stop by today to learn more about the statue’s history and purpose.
