A Vernal woman was arrested earlier this month after her husband ended up in the hospital. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, police were contacted after a witness stated that the victim’s wife, Keri Kelsy, told the individual that she had crushed up Trazodone and put it in the victim’s drink in an effort to kill him. There were several witnesses who also stated that Keri put pills in the victim’s drink the night before he was discovered in a state of medical distress requiring hospitalization. One of the witnesses said Keri had admitted to putting medication in the victim’s alcohol bottles to help him sleep. The victim told investigators that he had started drinking alcohol in the afternoon and shortly thereafter “things started getting way weird.” When interviewed, Keri admitted to crushing up approximately 5 prescription pills and putting them in the victim’s drink. She also allegedly admitted that as she left the residence she told a friend what she did and said something like maybe he will die this time. 58-year-old Keri Denise Kelsey was officially taken into custody and transported to the Uintah County Jail. She is charged with Surreptitious Administration of Substances, a 3rd Degree Felony. Kelsey is being held without bail.
