A special volunteer organization has its sights on Vernal to spread Christmas cheer to a local elementary school next week. For over 40 years, Angel Flight West has made it its mission to donate flights to people needing safe travel to and from medical appointments. “Transportation challenges create one of the most daunting barriers to healthcare—a barrier second only to the cost,” they share. “Every day, Angel Flight West’s volunteer pilots fly people to their medical appointments at no cost to the passenger.” While that is a very worthy cause, it isn’t the only special flight they offer. Each December, they also give Santa Claus himself a ride to deliver toys to children in Utah and Vernal is the destination for this year’s mission. Rumor has it the volunteer pilots of Angel Flight West will fly to the Vernal Regional Airport on December 11th with Mr. and Mrs. Clause, the elves, and enough toys for hundreds of children destined for the good boys and girls attending Ashley Elementary. The destination for this exciting event changes each year. Last year, the annual Santa Flight delivered gifts to children in St. George.
