A section of Highway 40 was closed down late Thursday evening due to a vehicle fire. Uintah County Fire Marshal Jeremy Raymond confirmed that it was a semi truck on fire. Traffic was detoured away from Highway 40 as fire crews worked to put the semi fire out. Observers reported that the totalled semi was hauled off and Highway 40 was reopened before midnight. Vernal PD shared that the cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
