The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is offering their congratulations to the 5th graders of Altamont on graduating from the 2024 D.A.R.E. program. The graduation of the students of Ms. Cassidy and Mrs. Glena was a special event. “It was such a fun class to teach here in Altamont,” shares School Resource Officer Kevin Priebe. “All the kids were super great!” The students all participated in an essay contest in which a winner of each class was chosen. Reuben Mangum from Mrs. Glena’s and Hadley Oman from Ms. Cassidy’s class were picked for the top essays and parents in attendance were able to hear the essays read by each winner. D.A.R.E. Instructor Deputy Kevin Priebe and Office Manager Cynthia Wardle hosted the festivities with a pizza party and conducted a special graduating commemoration to honor these great kids. Also, in attendance were Chief Deputy Jeremy Curry, Sgt. Detective Misti Duncan, Sgt. Detective Ryan Hunter, Deputy Trenton Weekes, and Deputy Josh Bird. Members from EMS and Fire were there too to help the students learn CPR and other lifesaving methods. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office offered their congratulations to the graduates and shared that they are all proud to be part of the Duchesne County community and the D.A.R.E. program.
