Law enforcement seized a large amount of methamphetamine in Moffat County over the weekend. On Sunday, November 10th, the All Crimes Enforcement Team (ACET) arrested 77-year-old Hayden resident, John Gibson Lewis, after he was found to be in possession of approximately 665 grams or 1.46 pounds of suspected methamphetamine. Lewis was booked into the Moffat County Jail on the charges of Unlawful Distribution, Manufacturing, Dispensing, or Sale of a Schedule II Controlled Substance (greater than 225 grams) and as a Special Offender since it is suspected that he introduced/imported drugs from outside the State of Colorado. The drug charge is a Class 1 Drug Felony. Lewis is currently being held on a $50,000 cash/surety bond at the Moffat County Jail. This arrest was the culmination of a lengthy 10-month-long investigation. The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office and Craig Police Department assisted with Sunday’s contact and subsequent arrest. This is another example of how ACET and area law enforcement are working to aggressively enforce drug laws in Northwest Colorado. ACET’s primary mission is to identify, disrupt, and dismantle drug trafficking organizations.
