Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion was recently a guest on the USU and You radio program and discussed the downtown revitalization projects that are ongoing. Bennion shared that it is still the early stages of the revitalization and the transformation will continue to spread. The completed project is the improvements to the block south of Highway 40 between 100 West and Vernal Avenue that transformed potholes and dumpsters into beautiful well lit parking, trees, and walkways. That look will continue to spread as more projects are completed. Over half the work is underground, explained Bennion, with electrical wires getting buried and new sewer and water lines installed. Business and economic development is what the revitalization is all about and that is already proving true with more entertainment moving into downtown. Bennion noted that there is a family nightlife blossoming drawing people downtown with Vernal Theatre Live, Dinoland bowling alley, Civ’s Gaming Citadel, restaurants, and soon a roller rink in the old Oak House building. The current revitalization projects have started paving and will be closer to completion before winter hits.
