Food fights may be fun but are generally frowned upon but a food fight to fill food pantry shelves sounds like the right kind of mischief to engage our local students in. As part of the school district’s service learning initiative, Uintah Middle School has challenged Vernal Middle School to a food fight. “We are proud to be in our third year with our Service Learning class, which has helped foster a culture of service in our school,” shares the UMS announcement. “To build on this initiative, our Advisory classes are planning and executing service projects both within the school and throughout the community. A great example of this is a friendly competition hosted by Mr. Coonis’s class in collaboration with our neighbors at VMS. The Great Middle School Food Fight begins next week, on October 28th.” To engage in this fight, send canned goods with a Uintah or Vernal Middle School student starting on Monday. Let the battle begin!
