A woman released from Duchesne County Jail late last week was arrested shortly after for stealing a truck from students in Provo Canyon and driving it into the Provo River. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, 35-year-old Heather Leann Murray was arrested on October 15th in Duchesne County after claiming that someone had shot out the back window of her car while she was driving on Highway 40 near milepost 100. Officers responded and found Murray parked in the middle of the road of 1650 South off of Highway 40. Murray was found with cocaine and drug paraphernalia and was arrested and booked into Duchesne County Jail. Court documents show an order to release with conditions filed on October 18th. On October 19th, Murray was arrested after allegedly approaching a group of students near Bridal Veil Falls in Provo Canyon, pointing a gun at the group, and telling them to get out of the car. The students followed her instructions and then called 9-1-1. Murray got into the truck and started honking the horn. Law enforcement arrived but Murray ignored orders to exit the vehicle. Instead she drove into the Provo River, crashing on the opposite riverbank. Murray got out of the vehicle and ran but was apprehended by law enforcement. She was booked into Utah County Jail for offenses related to motor vehicle theft, assault, and drugs.
