Emotions have been high since the body of a missing Roosevelt woman was found in a vehicle in Vernal on October 8th. Unfortunately, the rumor mill has taken on a life of its own prompting Roosevelt City Chief of Police Mark J. Watkins to issue a statement “to address the recent rumors and public concerns surrounding the Kimberly Hyde case. While we are unable to release certain details at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation,” explains Chief Watkins, “we want to assure the community that there is no heightened threat to public safety connected with this case. Roosevelt residents remain safe.” The statement also emphasized that the Roosevelt City Police Department is committed to transparency and will provide further updates as soon as possible. They anticipate releasing more information by midweek and recognize that this has been a challenging time for everyone in the community.
