A driver that was pulled over after allegedly hitting another vehicle and driving away was arrested for Driving Under the Influence on Friday. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers were dispatched to a hit and run believed to have occurred at 500 South 2500 West in Uintah County on September 20th. An officer was able to conduct a traffic stop in a driveway on 3000 West on the suspect vehicle that allegedly side swiped another vehicle and drove away. The driver provided a false name that was later found to be the driver’s sister’s name. Eventually the driver was identified as 27-year-old Elizabeth Georgina Gardner. Because Gardner was observed to have bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, the officer requested that she do Field Sobriety Testing which she refused. A large bottle of partially consumed alcohol was located in the vehicle and Gardner was arrested for DUI. A records check shows that Gardner was convicted of DUI in 2022 which bumped her DUI charge up to a 3rd Degree Felony. She is also charged with Misdemeanor Providing an Officer with False Personal Information, Failure to Comply at Vehicle Accident, Open Container in a Vehicle, and Driving on a Suspended License. The judge ordered that Gardner be held with no bail.
