A woman in Uintah County was arrested earlier this month after allegedly swerving her SUV to hit a traveling motorcycle, causing it to crash, and then driving away. In case you were wondering, yes, this case of road rage was personal. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers were dispatched to the accident near the intersection of 1900 South 2000 East after a witness called it in. When officers arrived, however, no one was at the scene. The witness told officers the motorcycle was being followed closely by the SUV when the SUV swerved into the opposite lane and then back into the original lane, side swiping the motorcycle and causing it to crash with 2 people on it. Another call came in, this time from the mother of the man that had been driving the motorcycle. Officers traveled to her home which was nearby. The officer took pictures of the injuries to the man which included what appeared to be a head injury. When asked what happened, the man stated that he and his girlfriend had been on his motorcycle when his wife began following them in her vehicle and then hit them, causing them to crash before driving away. The damage to the motorcycle was consistent with the statements given. An attempt to locate was issued on the vehicle registered to Brittni Holmes. Once located, officers made contact with Homes who stated she had followed the pair on the motorcycle and attempted to pass them in the left lane but the motorcycle sped up and she struck the motorcycle as she moved back into the original lane. She said she was aware the motorcycle had crashed but left because she wanted to get out of there and figured they were fine. 34-year-old Brittni Holmes was booked into Uintah County Jail and is charged with 2 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Aggravated Assault and Misdemeanor Failure to Remain at an Accident Involving Injury. She is scheduled in court on October 21st.
