Uintah School District On Anonymous Social Media Post Indicating School Violence

Local authorities have announced that an anonymous social media post causing alarm across the country is not believed to pose a credible threat to local schools. The announcement from Uintah School District states: “We are aware of an anonymous social media post that describes pulling a fire alarm at a school and then committing acts of violence during the ensuing evacuation. A similar post has been reported in multiple communities and states. It does not include a location or name a school. Based on current information, law enforcement doesn’t believe the post is a credible threat to any of our schools. Should that change, we will take the appropriate measures to protect students and staff in consultation with law enforcement. We will continue to work with police and fire officials to ensure our students and staff are safe. As part of this work, we are implementing protocols designed to prevent the use of a fake fire alarm to set up an act of violence at a school. We will not share these protocols publicly, because doing so could help an individual who would seek to harm our students and staff. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. If you ever have information about a possible threat to one of our schools, contact law enforcement immediately.”
