Construction continues on the Indian Canyon Corridor and the current scope of work planned is anticipated to be complete this fall. The UDOT construction on the project started in 2023 with improvements meant to ensure the road withstands the projected additional heavy vehicle traffic and to improve safety for all travelers on the 45-mile corridor that runs from Duchesne to Helper. So far, a southbound passing lane has been added on US-191 from milepost 280 to 282 and paving preservation has been ongoing. Improvements to the Highway 6/Highway 191 intersection got underway in July and currently, the north corridor from milepost 282 to 295 is being paved as well as the south corridor from milepost 251 to 260. “Nearly $104 million has been allocated for improvements to the corridor,” shares UDOT. “The Utah Legislature appropriated $88.5 million in their 2023 session, and UDOT has provided just over $15.49 million in additional state and federal funding for improvements to the US-191 Indian Canyon corridor.”
