A reckless driver traveling with the vehicle on fire was arrested for DUI last week in Duchesne County. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, officers responded to a call of a reckless driver of a vehicle that was unable to maintain its lane and was being driven while there was a fire under the vehicle’s hood. Multiple witnesses had signed statements of the dangerous situation they had witnessed on the roads. Once apprehended, the driver was described as combative and as speaking incoherently and moving around sporadically. After attempting to fight officers and a firefighter on scene, he was transported to Uintah Basin Medical Center. 43-year-old Alvin Ray Jones had been driving a maroon KIA Optima that sustained extensive fire damage. A syringe of dark liquid was found at the scene which a witness stated had fallen from the driver’s person. Jones was arrested and is charged with DUI and Refusing A Chemical Test, both of which are 3rd Degree Felony charges due to having 2 or more DUIs in the last 10 years. Jones also faces charges for drugs and traffic violations.
