The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office reports that on August 24, 2024 at approximately 9:00pm, Uintah County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Ballard on the report of a possible fight in progress. When deputies arrived an adult male was found unresponsive with multiple stab wounds. Life saving measures were performed on the victim on scene and at the hospital in Roosevelt before he was flown to the Wasatch Front, where he died the following day.  The victim has been identified as 44 year old Owen Shuck. The unknown assailant had fled the scene by the time law enforcement arrived, however investigators were able to identify a suspect, Brandin Reynolds, 42 of Roosevelt, early Sunday morning.  Reynolds was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Uintah County Jail on a parole violation.  Murder charges are expected to be filed this week. Investigators believe Reynolds targeted Shuck, but are still processing evidence while they look for a clear motive in the killing.  Further information will be released when it is available.
