Free Fishing Day Nearly Here

Free Fishing Day is nearly here and northeastern Utah is holding several events to make this as easy as possible on those new to fishing or out of practice. DWR biologist Randy Oplinger says even experienced anglers should mark their calendar for June 10th because early June is one of the best times to fish in Utah and so it’s the best time to bring a friend or family member to try it out while it is free. While limited, there will be equipment available to some in attendance. “Equipment you can borrow will be available at most of the events,” shares Oplinger, “and so will volunteers who can help you and your kids fish. Before the events, many of these waters will be stocked with fish.” DWR personnel will be on hand to answer questions about local fishing hotspots and to help newbies fish. Events are being held in Daggett County at the Green’s Lake, in Uintah County at Matt Warner Reservoir, and in Duchesne County at the Lower Stillwater Ponds. The events start at 9:00am.
