The Utah Department of Health has designated Ashley Regional Medical Center as a “Stroke Receiving Facility.” The hospital was visited by the Bureau of EMS and Preparedness on May 18th in order to verify that a proper system was in place to treat stroke patients. “At Ashley Regional, we strive to provide the best services possible,” shares Ashley Regional CEO Ben Cluff. “We are proud of the physicians and the staff that have been involved in preparing for this certification and we are proud of the physicians and the staff that have been involved in preparing for this certification and we are proud to be designated as a Stroke Receiving Facility.” The designation is important as stroke patients have a very narrow window of time to receive life-saving treatment. “Clot-busting” medications must be delivered within 3 hours to prevent further brain damage and appropriate medical care plays a huge part in the recovery process. All local EMS have been notified of the status designation for Ashley Regional and the hospital has committed to maintaining the high level of commitment needed to maintain the designation.
