A traffic stop in Uintah County near milepost 135 on Highway 40 resulted in a DUI arrest and a variety of drug charges. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, the officer noticed an open container of Jack Daniels at the feet of the front passenger. The officer identified the driver as 50-year-old Eugenia Taveapont who was found to have a suspended license and no-bail warrant for her arrest. Eugenia and her passenger were asked to exit the vehicle and while talking with her, the officer noted that Eugenia was unusually calm and that her speech was quiet, slow, and slurred. She informed the officer that marijuana and meth would be located in her bag. Mushrooms, a large amount of meth, and cocaine were found along with drug distribution tools and additional open containers of alcohol. Eugenia was arrested and a blood draw was performed at the hospital before she was booked into Uintah County Jail. She is charged with DUI, Felony Possession with Intent To Distribute a Controlled Substance as well as multiple counts of Felony Possession or Use of a Controlled Substance, and other charges.
