Woman Arrested After Stealing Phone From Vehicle

Officers were able to quickly apprehend the suspect in a reported vehicle burglary in Vernal on July 20th. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a call came in that a phone had been stolen from a truck with a description given of a woman last seen on foot traveling eastbound. Officers spotted the woman who was identified as 33-year-old Ashleigh Lauren Holloway. She denied having taken anything from a truck but officers found a phone sitting next to a nearby tree where Holloway was sitting. The phone was returned to the person at the truck who was able to unlock the phone to prove ownership. Holloway was booked into the Uintah County Jail and is charged with 3rd Degree Felony Theft and Misdemeanor Burglary of a Vehicle. The felony charge is due to prior theft charges. It was also noted that Holloway has Theft, Burglary, and Trespassing cases currently pending in Colorado.
