Two people were transported to the hospital on Monday after a single vehicle crash west of Vernal on Highway 40.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 5pm at Mile Marker 138 when an eastbound Jeep Wrangler drifted off the right side of the road, overcorrected left, then back right and rolled. The driver was pinned and had to be extricated while the passenger was ejected. Both received serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital by ground.
Initially, lanes were closed in both directions but lanes opened up by about 5:30pm. The cause of the crash remains under investigation but impairment is not suspected.
